PharrellELLEUKCoverIn the “old” days, it would have taken several weeks if not a full month for the public’s complaints to come full circle and trigger a magazine cover-star apology. Not so, of course, today.

Twenty-four hours after the public started proclaiming itself very unhappy with Pharrell’s sporting of Native American headdress on the cover of the July issue of Elle UK, the pop star has apologized. Here’s the brief statement released to USA Today‘s Maria Puente:

“I respect and honor every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry.”

We can’t help here but segue to the ongoing resistance of Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder to change the name of his NFL franchise. On that front, in case you missed it, Dan Rather recently came out as one of latest in favor of keeping the current moniker.
