For all the talk about games and social, the utilities most users can't live without are weather related

People use their phones to entertain themselves and stay connected, but most of all, they put them to practical use. According to Forrester Research, weather-related apps were downloaded by 51 percent of mobile users, edging out games (50 percent), social networking (47 percent) and navigation apps (39 percent).


It wasn't always so: games and other casual-use apps used to be the most popular, but they've dropped behind weather and navigation apps in the past year, according to Mobilewalla, a platform that ranks apps.
