Peter Nelson Named Head of HBO Sports

Moving on up.

HBO has named Peter Nelson executive vice president of HBO Sports. Nelson previously served as vp of programming since 2011.

Nelson is succeeding Ken Hershman, who abruptly announced he was stepping down last month. Hershman had served as HBO Sports president since 2012. “I am particularly proud of what I accomplished and believe now is the perfect time to hand over the reins to someone new,” Hershman said at the time.

HBO president of programming Michael Lombardo described Nelson as “the ideal choice to spearhead our groundbreaking programming initiatives as well as our commitment to world class boxing.”
