Publish Your Personal Essay in One of These Digital Pubs

Our Personal Essay Markets series concludes with a focus on digital publications.

Once upon a time for writers, it was print or bust, but these days, there’s not much of a difference between a digital or print clip–except pay, usually. But in our final installment of the Personal Essay Markets series, which focuses on digital publications, we did find some sites with a pretty generous pay scale.

Take, for example, Aeon Magazine, whose standard rate of $.55 per word for its 1,500- to 8,000-word essays translates into a nice check for those who pitch to this magazine devoted to publishing well-researched, well-written essays that explore big ideas.

Aeon Magazine
Aeon is a digital magazine that publishes four original, polished essays every week.
