“Last one into the piano-shaped pool has Mafia connections!” you’ll shout gleefully, abandoning your Tiki Mai Tai and turning up the hi-fi. Or at least that’s how we imagine the experience of renting Twin Palms, the Palm Springs, California estate of Frank Sinatra that is yours for $2,600 a night (plus a $1,000 security deposit). The August 11 issue of Time devotes a couple of pages to the city’s “extensive array of beautifully preserved Modernist structures,” many of which are now available as vacation rentals.
