Online Jobs For Print Escapees: Finance, Entertainment

This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s been on the internet lately, but if you’re thinking of leaving your print journalism job for the Web, better enjoy writing about celebrity scandals or stock prices.

Out of Business Insider’s list of 25 old-media stars who jumped to new media in the last few years, only a handful of hard news reporters are still covering news in their new gigs.

This isn’t to say that hard news print writers are jumping online and churning out features about duvet thread counts and Tiger Woods and Justin Bieber or whatever, but rather, that few hard news writers have made the jump, period.
