NYT's New Online Look

A year in the making, the New York Times unveiled a redesigned homepage over the weekend. Gut reaction: Vast improvement — in terms of usability and readability — with relatively easy tabs to toggle between video (now a “fundamental” part of the Times‘ Web presentation), the paper and online editions, as well as a “most blogged” feature and a “My Times” personalizable page (“currently under development”) that places the Times in the business of letting users organize their news a la Google and Yahoo — the giant search elephants in any newspaper’s board room.

The design, however, does look strikingly similar to another New York-based publication’s redesign.
