NYT's Metro Loss Leaves Room For Competition
Last week was a tough one for The New York Times: not only were employees dropping like flies over a gastrointestinal bug that may or may not have been caused by the food being served in the cafeteria, as well as bemoaning the closing of Times‘ restaurant Montenapo, but Sewell Chan, bureau chief of the Times‘ metro section and founder of its City Room blog, transferred to the Washington bureau of the same paper.
But Chan — who was called “a genius” among other high words of praise in his farewell memo written by Joe Sexton and Bill Keller — leaving New York for D.C.
