NYT.com Takes 'The Local' Route

The New York Times may have shuttered its stand alone Metro section last year but the website is gearing up to go super local, with the help of the locals.

The Times is launching a new site on its homepage dubbed ‘The Local’ (it doesn’t seem to be live yet) which will cover a number of communities in Brooklyn and New Jersey. According to E&P the site will primarily feature content from local contributors and will be overseen by Times staffers Tina Kelley, in New Jersey, and Andy Newman, in Brooklyn who have already been recruiting.
