The New York Times is hip to all this union fun we’ve had over the past six months, so it has decided to extend its union contracts through 2021.
According to the New York Post, the existing contracts would have expired in 2017. The contracts include paper handlers, pressmen and stereotypers.
“It took two years of hard fought negotiations and averted what would certainly have been a strike in 2017,” John Heffernan, head of the New York Newspaper Pressmen’s Union, Local 2, told the Post.
The new deals include salary increases and full benefits.
