Nikki Finke: Academy Considers Moving Oscars to January

The Board of Governors of the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences met last night to discuss the 2011 Oscar ceremony. And what a discussion it was, according to Nikki Finke. Apparently the Academy is thinking about moving the ceremony all the way up to January, in front of the Golden Globes the SAG awards and the BAFTA awards. The move, if the Academy can pull it off, would cast a huge shadow over all the other award shows.

Will it happen? Not according to an anonymous Finke source:

“There’s a ZERO percent chance that the Executive team can figure out how to logistically coordinate voting that soon, especially with all the old people who don’t do electronic mail.
