NewsHour Revamps, Opening At Least One Position

“This is not a succession plan in disguise,” says Linda Winslow, the executive producer of “NewsHour,” of the team’s decision to return to a two-anchor format and strike Jim Lehrer’s name from the title. “What we were trying to accomplish was a more engaging program.”

NewsHour hasn’t yet had to lay off any employees, though salaries and hiring have been frozen since last year, the New York Times reports today. Still, as part of the shake-up, producers are searching for a correspondent to read the daily news summary and anchor daily Webcasts from the studio, someone who’s both new-media savvy and “a credentialed journalist.”
