News Corp. Invests More in Education Tech

Who likes the idea of News Corp. having access to kids’ education information? Anyone? Well, it doesn’t really matter, because it’s too late. The company is putting $180 million behind Amplify, its digital education venture. The AP reports that News Corp. and AT&T are using that money to fund a pilot program that will give tablet computers to kids this upcoming school year. The selected students will then use the computers at home and school, and Amplify will track their progress and tailor lessons to each kid’s learning level.

Count the United Federation of Teachers President, Michael Mulgrew, as someone who isn’t excited about Amplify.
