Musician's 'I Am The 99%' Facebook Photo Inspires Nearly 10k in Donations

It looks like so many other “I am the 99%” photos floating around the web, except for the gold record. And the handwritten sign doesn’t bemoan banks foreclosures or job layoffs, but record companies refusing to pay royalties.

The man behind the sign is Lester Chambers, lead singer of The Chambers Brothers, whose 1968 hit “Time Has Come Today” has been used in numerous films, TV shows and commercials. But despite the  enduring popularity of his music, the 72-year-old lives in poverty and has at times been homeless.
