The New York Rangers are hitting the road in a big way to open the 2011-12 season–4,000 miles away from Madison Square Garden.

To mark a rare Sweden season opener, MSG Network is airing 3 1/2 hours of special programming prior to each game. In addition to the taped shows, Bill Pidto and Ron Duquay will provide viewers with live updates at the top and bottom of the hour from New York.

Friday’s lineup features two premieres: Ranger #4: Del Zotto, and The Game 365: Henrik Lundqvist.

The Ranger goalie, Lundqvist hails from Sweden.

Following the pre-game show, at 12:30 p.m. both days, the Rangers take on the Los Angeles Kings on Friday, and face the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
