Meredith Expands Food Reach; Bonnier Gets Into TV And Mobile

Big news and big hires from two of the U.S.’s biggest magazine companies today:

Meredith Corp., publisher of Better Home & Gardens etc., purchased the EatingWell Media Group, publisher of a bi-monthly magazine called, unsurprisingly, EatingWell. Meredith expects to grow circulation from 350,000 to 500,000 by early 2012.

The CEO of EatingWell, Thomas Witschi, will become EVP and president of “women’s lifestyle” at Meredith. The rest of the company’s 40 employees will “likely” remain in Charlotte, Vt.,
