MediaFinder Charts The Ups And Downs Of Magazines During The First Three Quarters Of 2010

So how did magazines fare this year, now that we’re out of the recession and deeply entrenched in a new phase of digital publishing? MediaFinder.com, the online database of U.S. and Canadian publications, has calculated that 176 new magazines launched in the first nine months of 2010 — down from 259 during the same period last year.

On the plus side, magazine closures also saw a decline: 127 folded in the first three quarters of this year, compared to 383 in 2009.
