Los Angeles Unemployment Rate Hits 9.9%

The State of California Employment Development Department released a report today of the grim numbers. California seems to be doing worse than the rest of the nation- For December, the U.S. unemployment rate dropped to 7.2 percent. In California, it was 9.3 percent. The unemployment numbers are the highest they’ve been since 1994. From the Los Angeles Times:

Job cutbacks keep on coming. In the first 10 days of this year, large and medium-size employers notified the Employment Development Department that they planned to fire about 19,000 workers.
