New York Times Critics Fail to Brake for La La Land
Three Top Ten lists; zero Top Ten mentions.
When we hit today’s compilation of the top films of 2016 as chosen by New York Times film critics Manohla Dargis, A.O. Scott and Stephen Holden, the advertisement at the top of the page was for La La Land, opening Friday. And on the L.A. coast, the fact that the critically acclaimed Damien Chazelle musical is nowhere to be found on any of the Top Ten lists is confounding awards pundits.
