Today’s sizzling media rumor: John Huey, longtime editor-in-chief of Time Inc.’s empire, is leaving the post by the end of the year. Spread it while it’s hot! Or whatever.
The New York Post cites sources claiming that Huey has already lined up a Shorenstein fellowship gig at the Harvard Kennedy School, and he’s all but counting down the days until his departure.
Huey grabbed the top editor spot at Time Inc. in 2006, after serving as Time’s editorial director since 2001. Prior to that, he was editor of the company’s Fortune Group, and in 1997 — while overseeing Fortune — Huey was honored as Ad Age’s Editor of The Year.
Huey’s replacement is rumored to be Martha Nelson, who has been Time Inc.’s editorial director since 2010.
