Fans of Jill Nicolini, wait no longer! The popular WPIX/Channel 11 morning personality, as previously reported, resurfaced today on WNYW/Channel 5’s Good Day New York.
In the waning minutes of the 8 a.m. hour, Nicolini made her first appearance on Channel 5.
“Do not adjust your sets,” Anchor Rosanna Scotto joked. “You’re not seeing things. We’re not melding stations.”
Scotto and Greg Kelly took two minutes to introduce her to the WNYW viewers.
Many wondered what Nicolini’s role at WNYW would be. Kelly, immediately, put an end to the speculation, saying that Julie Chang will handle entertainment on the evening newscasts with Ernie Anastos and Dari Alexander, thus, clearing the way for Nicolini.
“Now you get to play with us in the morning,” Scotto told Nicolini.
“I love you guys, I’ve always watched you,” Nicolini countered.
Since Nicolini was on the air opposite her new colleagues, Scotto questioned, “Really, how did you watch us when you were doing another morning show?”
Nicolini said WPIX had televisions on throughout the newsroom monitoring other stations.
After that, Kelly asked the new hire about her ties to New York (Farmingville in Suffolk County), where she went to college (Stony Brook, with her Masters in Communication Arts at New York Institute of Technology), and where she lives (Whitestone, Queens).
Scotto kept the “spotlight” on Nicolini, asking her, “Is there someone that you’re serious with? (She has a boyfriend, although not engaged, and has no children.)
“I do have cats, and I consider them children,” Nicolini said.
Nicolini returned to “the couch” for the 9 a.m. hour, and was reintroduced. This time, Nicolini showed her family roots to News Corp., with pictures of her Dad, a longtime New York Post driver.
And for those who missed the “Jill Nicolini resume´” discussion, Kelly once again asked where she went to college and where she grew up and lives now.
As for her role with Channel 5, Nicolini told viewers that she’ll report on entertainment news, do interviews, and, “Whatever you all need me to do.”
More from the “everything you wanted to know about Jill Nicolini but was afraid to ask,” she told Kelly and Scotto that she loves Country music.
An incredulous Scotto, said, “Country music, stop it!… How did that happen?”
“It’s been a passion of mine for years, it’s my favorite genre of music.”
Posing nude for Playboy was, seemingly, the only aspect of her life that went untouched.
As for her sports allegiances, Nicolini says, “I’m not big football fan.”
Living near Citi Field, Nicolini leans toward the Mets as her baseball choice.
Delving further, we learned that her favorite movie is Notebook, “I’m the sappy romantic.”
“Anything else we should know, Jill?” Kelly asked.
Nicolini saved one other nugget.
“I’ve been studying for my captain’s license and I’m ready to get my captain’s license,” Nicolini admits. “I love boating.”
