Jessica Lustig Named NY Times Mag Deputy Editor [Updated]
Jessica Lustig has been named deputy editor of The New York Times Magazine. Lustig was most recently a staff editor of the Times’ op-ed/Sunday Review.
Lustig has previously worked at The Village Voice, Details, Time Out New York and New York.
In a memo obtained by Poynter, Times Mag editor Jake Silverstein wrote that Lustig “brings a keen nose for writers, a brilliant sense of the ideas that animate stories, and a steady hand with copy. She has an incredibly smart feel for where the conversation is, something that will be a driving force in the magazine’s relaunch, and her excellent taste and deep moral engagement will help guide our coverage.”
Update (10:48 am):
Jenna Wortham has also joined Times Mag as a staff writer.
