Last night, our favorite Henry Dreyfuss expert (and D-Crit faculty member) Russell Flinchum wrapped up “The Automobile Aesthetically Considered,” his automatic, systematic, and hydromatic course on the history of car design at the Museum of Modern Art, leaving students to ponder how today’s designers and car companies can create stylish, efficient-to-produce cars that will reach a mass audience. “I think that they face a near-impossible task in trying to design a functional and stylistic success at a time of deadly competition,” Flinchum told us.
