Indy Star Approves 10% Pay Cut

The union representing newsroom and service employees at the Indianapolis Star voted 56-45 Tuesday to approve a two year contract with the newspaper. The contract requires a 10 percent pay cut and suspends merit-based pay increases. It also ends the union’s arbitration on behalf of seven employees laid off in December. The union had argued that the Star disregarded the seniority provisions in its contract when selecting those to lose their jobs last year.
