In Which We Detect Charming Loretta Lux Vibe in Ruven Afanador's Marie Claire Cover

Is it just us or does Ruven Afanador‘s shot of actress Jennifer Connelly on the December cover of Marie Claire conjure the fascinating, beautiful, and slightly creepy style of German art photographer Loretta Lux, whose work we like to describe as Diane Arbus-meets-Anne Geddes-meets-Jan van Eyck? Judge for yourself with the help of two of Lux’s images above: at center, “Selfportrait” (2007) and at right, “The Drummer” (2004).

As for Connelly, who was the face of Balenciaga’s David Sims-photograhed spring ad campaign, she revealed to Marie Claire that she eats three apples a day, considers Scooby-Doo “an American hero,” and is rather crafty.
