In Brief: NY Photo Festival, Fonts of the Future, Jesse Ashlock Gets <i>Details</i>-Oriented

Photographs of photographs by Jiro Takamatsu, whose work is featured in "Object Lesson," a New York Photo Festival exhibition curated by Vince Aletti. The New York Photo Festival is here! Now in its third year (and with a timeless identity designed by Pentagram), the event transforms Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood into a whirl of exhibitions, events, and brilliantly composed images. Guest curators Vince Aletti, Erik Kessels, Fred Ritchin, and Lou Reed have assembled a stellar quartet of main shows, while satellite exhibitions feature work from around the globe, including Latin America, North Korea, and Slovenia. Former I.D. magazine Jesse Ashlock has been named senior editor of Details, reports WWD. He succeeds Adam Laukhuf, who left the magazine to puruse other opportunities. Before taking the helm at dearly departed I.D. last May, Ashlock was editor of VMan. Want proof that art and charity can go hand in hand?
