Hunter Thompson vs. Paris Hilton

I haven’t written about Hunter Thompson’s suicide or Paris Hilton’s hacked Sidekick, because I know I’m not the only blogger you read, and I have little to say that others haven’t. But it’s interesting to note (and I don’t mean this as a criticism) how even the most proudly snarky of blogs (such as LA’s own Defamer) is treating Thompson’s tragic death without a hint of glibness, whereas, across the blogosphere, Paris Hilton’s Sidekick is getting exactly the treatment you’d expect.
