San Diego CityBeat just put out its annual “Local Music Issue”–which is probably best known for writing up every locally produced demo that get sent to the office and royally shitting on the bad ones (i.e. most of them). This year’s issue doesn’t disappoint in that regard. However, shitting on crappy music aside, we also like this piece by music editor Peter Holslin about how to get your band written up on Pitchfork–“The New York Times Book Review of the indie-rock world,” in Holslin’s words.

Among seven bits of advice to aspiring indie musicians, these two struck us as the funniest.
