Honolulu Advertiser Employees Get Severance
It took a while, but the former employees of the Honolulu Advertiser that were laid off when the paper closed and merged with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin will finally be receiving severance.
The unions representing the laid-off workers reached an agreement with former Advertiser owner Gannett Co. and new owner Oahu Publications after months of negotiations.
Former full-time employees will receive one week of pay for each year of service, capped at 40 weeks, Pacific Business News reports.
