Photographer of Grim New York Post Cover Pic: 'I Could Not Reach That Man'

We still haven’t received comment from The New York Post about their decision to publish the grim photo taken by R. Umar Abbasi, of Ki Suk Han about to be killed by an approaching Q train. But what we do have, is an explanation from Abbasi himself.

Abbasi penned his thoughts on the situation today in the Post. He claimed that he didn’t carefully plan the pictures like some have accused him of doing. He added that he was too far away from the man to save him, and that the experience was “one of the most horrible things I have ever seen.”

Abbasi said that the event haunted him so much he couldn’t sleep, and as for all of his critics, he considered them wrong to judge him:

I have to say I was surprised at the anger over the pictures, of the people who are saying: Why didn’t he put the camera down and...
