After weeks of rumored cities and venues — from Chicago to D.C. to Flushing, Queens — the U.S. leg of this summer’s Live Earth concert — the “concert for a climate in crisis” slated for July 7 — is now set: Giants Stadium in East Rutherford.
The preliminary lineup is set, too:
AFI, Akon, Alicia Keys, Giants Stadium regulars Bon Jovi, the Dave Matthews Band, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Ludacris, Melissa Etheridge, Rihanna, Roger Waters, Smashing Pumpkins and the reunited Police.
The global concert will begin in Sydney and continue across all 7 continents, concluding with the U.S. show. It will be simulacast on the Web at liveearth.msn.com.
Said Live Earth co-chair Al Gore: “We hope the energy created by Live Earth will jump start a massive public education effort. Live Earth will help us reach a tipping point that’s needed to move corporations and governments to take decisive action to solve the climate crisis.”
And where better to rock out for the environment than New Jersey.
