Google wants to scrape even more money from YouTube, so it has announced a premium subscription service, YouTube Red.
Red will allow consumers to view YouTube videos ad-free across all platforms, for $9.99 per month. Red subscribers can also download videos for offline viewing.
Because this is a Google product, it’s launching on Android phones first. Apple users will get Red eventually, but will have to pay $12.99 per month, because of Apple’s revenue take. For once, it sucks to be iPhone user.
Along with avoiding ads, YouTube Red will give consumers access to original programming, from creators such as CollegeHumor and PewDiePie.
