Former <I>Cookie</I> Publisher Jumps To <I>Brides</I> in Condé Shakeup

On the heels of today's announcement that Condé Nast is shuttering Gourmet, Cookie, Elegant Bride and Modern Bride, the company has named Carolyn Kremins vice president and publisher of Brides, effective immediately. Kremins, who had been publisher of now-bygone parenting mag Cookie, replaces Alison Adler-Matz, who will be leaving the company. According to a statement released by Condé SVP and publisher William Wackermann, Kremins "will assume all publisher responsibilities for Brides as it transitions from six to twelve issues a year," leaving sister publications Elegant Bride and Modern Bride behind. CAROLYN KREMINS NAMED VICE PRESIDENT & PUBLISHER OF BRIDES New York, NY, October 5, 2009 &emdash; Carolyn Kremins has been named Vice President and Publisher of Brides, it was announced today by William Wackermann, Senior Vice President & Publisher of Condé Nast. Ms. Kremins will assume all publisher responsibilities for Brides as it transitions from six to twelve issues a year. Her appointment is effective immediately, with Ms. Kremins replacing Alison Matz who will leave the company. Ms. Kremins was most recently the Publisher of Cookie magazine. Under her leadership, Cookie was recognized as Advertising Age's "Launch of the Year" for 2007 and named to Adweek's 2008 Hot List in the "10 under 50" category (magazines with less than a $50 million revenue base) and to the 2009 Hot List in the "10 under 60" category (magazines with less than a $60 million revenue base). She is one of the only publishers to have secured a place on Adweek's Hot List three times in a single decade on separate titles. Ms. Kremins was recognized as one of Advertising Age's "Women to Watch" in 2008 and as MIN's Sales Team Leader of the Year in 2009. Prior to joining Cookie, Ms. Kremins had been group publisher of The Week at Dennis Publishing since 2002. She began working at Dennis Publishing in 1996 as group publisher of Maxim, Maxim Online and Maxim Fashion, as well as launch Publisher of Stuff Magazine in 1998. Her appointment at Cookie marked a return to Condé Nast for Ms. Kremins. She first joined the company in 1992 as Beauty Director for House & Garden, and from 1993-1996 was Ad Director of Bon Appétit. She started her publishing career with sales positions at Elle and Shape magazines. Ms. Kremins graduated from SUNY Oneonta/F.I.T with a B.A. in marketing, advertising and communications. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two children.
