FCC Launches Official Future Of Media Inquiry

The FCC is looking into the future of media with a report coming by the end of the year, Broadcasting & Cable reports.

The agency is looking at ways to improve news and information in today’s world, and that doesn’t just mean journalism, says Steven Waldman, who’s leading the project, and is a self-described “journalist on hiatus” from Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report. The FCC is also looking into government transparency to “make sure consumers get the information they need from government and other sources about schools, crime, public health, natural disasters or other issues that affect them dearly,” he said in a statement.
