Employment Up 216,000 in March Riding On Hospitality And Healthcare Jobs

Healthcare, hospitality, mining and professional services helped add 216,000 jobs to the U.S. economy in March, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced.

There are still 13.5 million people officially unemployed, making the unemployment rate 8.8 percent, with another 2.4 million people not working but not counted as unemployed because they hadn’t been jobsearching recently.

But since February 2010, the economy has added an average of 115,000 jobs each month and the number of jobs added this month is a bigger gain than we’ve been seeing.
