Elle Names Alex Gonzalez Creative Director

Someone’s ears must have been burning. On Monday, we wondered if Alex Gonzalez would become Elle’s next creative director, and today, it’s official — he’s joining the magazine in that role, starting in June. Gonzalez is succeeding Joe Zee, who left Elle to join Yahoo.

As part of the Elle deal, Gonzalez will drop his duties as Marie Claire’s artistic director, but continue as Town & Country’s executive artistic director.

Elle has always captured that which is current and evoked emotion through the bold visual representation of how fashion, beauty and culture intersect, and Alex has an innate understanding of that vision,” said Elle’s editor, Robbie Myers, in a statement.
