Edward R. Murrow High School Drops TV Studio

Edward R. Murrow High School, located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, opened in 1977.

Named for the legendary CBS newsman, Murrow has become a victim of technology and budget cuts.

The New York Times reports the outdated equipment, including cassette records and a 250-pound stationary camera was hauled away.

The studio is now used for storage, with rows of Klieg lights on the ceiling and copies of a Murrow biography lining the floor.

While the school maintains is introduction to film and broadcasting courses, the report says it is no longer able to provide the same in-depth training for production.
