Economy Disrupts Our Sleep

The National Sleep Foundation‘s annual report was released today and it appears that 27 percent of Americans are losing sleep over economic anxiety.
The number of people reporting sleeplessness has doubled since 2001. Carolyn D’Ambrosio, director of the Center for Sleep Medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston told USA Today ,”I can say I’ve probably seen a 10% to 15% increase in phone calls from our existing patients and a 10% increase in new-patient calls.”

Prescriptions for sleep aids such as Ambien and Lunesta has risen 7 percent rise since 2007, according to IMS
