Economic Slowdown Hits Home; Shelter Mag Shuttered

Have something to write Home about? You’ll have to send it elsewhere, because Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. has announced that it will suspend publication of (i.e., close) the home design and remodeling-focused magazine that it acquired in 1991. Home will join Blueprint and House & Garden in the recyling bin of recently deceased shelter magazines (on the bright side, they’re great fodder for collages). “The current economic environment is difficult, and the mid-market home sector has been particularly hard hit,” said Hachette President and CEO Jack Kliger in a press release posted to our media-savvy sister blog, FishbowlNY.
