After a short hiatus as a print publication, East West magazine is back, and it wants you to create its cover art.
The magazine, which boasts that it is the “only lifestyle magazine with a pan-Asian American focus” is asking for submissions of original artwork that answer the questions: “What is your interpretation of East West today? What does the merging of cultures look like to you?” Readers can vote on entries on the magazine’s Web site at the beginning of September and the winning entrant will have his or her work displayed on the October/November issue of East West, which will hit newsstands October 6.
East West launched in 2003, but the bimonthly national magazine stopped publishing its print edition last year, “to retool operations.”
“During this time, we maintained an online presence, and realized the East West audience was anxious for the magazine’s return,” Founder and Editor-in-Chief Anita Malik said in a statement. “We are excited to re-launch the magazine with a cover contest that involves our readers.”
