Detroit News to Come Half the Time

On Friday, we told you about changes coming to the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News. Those changes will be announced tomorrow, but leaks are slipping out and they offer a dim picture of the industry’s future.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Detroit Media Partnership L.P., which operates the two papers, will suggest that they cease home deliver except for Thursday, Friday and Sunday — the days when the papers actually make money.

The plan is simultaneously a terrifying reality and an obvious hint of things to come.
