Despite Cost-Cutting, Layoffs At Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel cut 39 people yesterday, most in the business departments, E&P reports, representing a 3 percent staff cut.

This is the third round of layoffs this year: in August, the newspaper cut 92 positions through layoffs and through offering buyouts to 37 employees.

In April, the company laid off 31 employees, also on the business side and offered buyouts to nine newsroom workers, the third time since 2007.
