Dean Baquet Is Not Worried About Digital Rivals
The New York Times executive editor is not threatened.
Much has been made about the growing power of digital-only sites like BuzzFeed, Vox, Gawker and The Huffington Post. Critics say it’s only a matter of time before they overtake lumbering, old media behemoths like The New York Times. Unsurprisingly, Times executive editor Dean Baquet has called bullshit.
In an interview with The Guardian, Baquet said he would only worry about digital outlets when they can do the type of reporting that the Times can. Until then? No problem.
