David Halberstam's Driver Sentenced

The driver in the tragic car crash that killed David Halberstam has been sentenced to five days in county jail, a driving course and 200 hours of community service. Berkeley graduate student Kevin Jones was recommended for a sherrif’s work program by Judge Mark Forcum — which means he will most likely not spend any time behind bars.

“This is one of the hardest types of cases,” Forcum said before pronouncing sentence in San Mateo County Superior Court in Redwood City.
