More layoffs have come to the New York Daily News. According to The New York Post, the Daily News has cut about 20 staffers from its digital operation in Jersey City.
A Daily News human resources executive delivered the news on Friday. “There was no reason given other than ‘reductions,'” one staffer who was let go told the Post. “My co-workers and I were herded into a conference room and told that today was our last day and told to leave.”
The source added that the layoffs came as a shock because editors had “repeatedly assured us [in the fall] there were no dangers of any layoffs.”
Such is the life of a media outlet staffer.
