CondeNet Veteran Gets Glammed Up

The Glam Media hiring spree continues. The company recruited ex-CondeNeter Abigail Chisman to serve as its European executive editor. She'll oversee all of the site's editorial content on the Continent. Chisman started her career online in 1995 when she joined CondeNet UK. She began on Vogue.com, eventually serving as general manager for the entire European operation. Chisman, who memorably asked "Do you like my dress? as her acceptance speech during the 2005 Webby Awards, was called a "dot.com guru" by the Telegraph in 2001 when she was editor-in-chief of Conde Nast Online. (The article also notes how the company scaled back its investment into the Internet when "the whole world started wondering exactly where the revenue stream was in online publishing." Good thing we solved that problem.) Abi has received a collection of industry awards, presented at key conferences and has been the point of reference on a number of occasions including her famous five-word acceptance speech at the international Webby Awards in 2005, where Vogue.com was named World's Best Fashion Site (People's Voice): "Do you like my dress?"
