Columbia’s School of Journalism Selects Hearst Professional-in-Residence
Columbia University’s School of Journalism has named Rebecca MacKinnon its newest Hearst Professional-in-Residence. MacKinnon serves on the board of directors for the Committee to Protect Journalists and the Global Network Initiative and is a Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation, where she covers Internet policies, freedom of speech and the impact of the digital world on human rights.
“We live in a time of great challenge and disruption for news organizations,” said MacKinnon. “But for young journalists who dare to be creative and original these are also times of tremendous excitement and opportunity.
