Adam McKay Trips Up Christian Bale
Some funny Goodfellas awards history, courtesy of The Big Short writer-director.
Goodfellas never won anything?
While Christian Bale’s on-stage relaying last night at the Critics’ Choice Awards of a table comment made by his The Big Short director Adam McKay was not quite as emphatic as Quentin Taratino’s Golden Globe rewriting of Ennio Morricone awards history, it continues a weird little trend this awards season. For starters, Joe Pesci won a Best Supporting Oscar for Goodfellas, beating out Al Pacino and Andy Garcia among others.
Other awards claimed by Goodfellas in 1990-91 include five BAFTAs, a gaggle of critics association prizes and the Audience Award along with several other major citations from the 1990 Venice International Film Festival.
