Chicago Tribune Cutting Another 20 Percent

The Chicago Tribune—whose parent company filed for bankruptcy in December, is cutting its newsroom workforce by another 20 percent, or 90 employes, Crain’s Chicago Business reported yesterday.

Employees were notified of the layoffs at a meeting last week, and told Crain’s the cuts would come over the next several weeks.

The paper is also restructuring the newsroom and beefing up in “emerging growth opportunities,” according to an e-mail sent by publisher Tony Hunter to employees earlier this year.
