Chicago: Land of New Media Expansion, Death of Print

On Friday, BusinessWeek shuttered its first city-focused publication, BW Chicago, after just eight issues. The company cited low advertising revenue for the shutdown, and said two people will lose their jobs, one on the editorial side and one in sales.

New media properties see a very different Windy City, one that is primed for expansion. Thrillist launched a Chicago edition in March and The Huffington Post will launch its first local chapter in Chitown soon.
